Freight Agents and their Responsibilities

Though an agent works under the authority of the brokerage, they still have their own responsibilities. Such as keeping his/her own records, filing his/her own taxes, and knowing what agreements and signatures should be in place. An agent is also responsible for building their own customer base, carrier base, and knowing the different rates and equipment they will use. (Just to name a few.) Another responsibility of the agent is communication, keep the lines open and honest. It is the agent’s responsibility to provide the best possible customer service.
